A young Syrian mother expressed her gratitude to Jewish and Christian doctors after her daughter, Niyaz, received medical care from the group of professionals.

In a story published by CBN, a woman (who's identity was hidden to protect her from foreseen repercussions) and one-year old child, Niyaz, who was the beneficiary of a life-saving heart surgery, were featured in a heart-wrenching story of a mother's love and a group's generosity.

"First, I was afraid of the thought of coming here. But after some thought and discussion with my husband, we decided it was worth it for the surgery," the mother said to CBN. "I thank all the Jewish doctors that treated my daughter and I got a good treatment from all the staff here, and also Shevet Achim who brought us here to the hospital."

Shevet Achim was the organization that helped Niyaz get the medical procedure that she badly needed. The group is a coalition of Jews and Christians who come together to raise funds to provide children like Niyaz with heart surgeries. The organization has been around since 1994, and exists until today with the purpose of helping children in the middle-eastern Asia regions. Niyaz's heart surgery came in partnership with the group, "Save a Child's Heart."

According the Shevet's official website, the organization exists as an expression of God's grace, and that the group aims to communicate not the work that they do as a movement but the animating spirit behind it. The Christian outreach group serves as a bridge between the Muslim world and the Jewish state.

Niyaz suffered from a rare heart ailment where two holes were found in between two major arteries. At the time the surgery was to de done there had already been damage to her lungs, which made the process of saving the young girl's life even more complicated. The surgery happened one year late, but still it was successful.

There is no news of what has happened to Niyaz and her mother upon their return to Syria.
