"Supernatural" will welcome a new cast member who will play an important role in the life of Castiel (Misha Collins). It has been reported that Alicia Witt, who plays Paula in AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead" has been added to season 12 cast as a character named Lily Sunder.

The actress made the announcement through a video post on her Twitter account and explained to fans that she will not make it to the Atlanta Walker Stalker conference because she has to fly to Vancouver to shoot scenes for The CW series, IBTimes reported.

She added that her character is related to Cas, and that she will get to do a lot of pretty cool things for her role.

Could Lily be another angel or another mythical being, perhaps? Cas' mission for the season seems to be to single-mindedly hunt down Lucifer (Rick Springsteen) who is now inhabiting an ageing rock star as his new vessel.

To take Lucifer down, Cas is expected to team up with the king of hell himself — the affably evil Crowley (Mark Sheppard) — after his original plan fails. This will be an ironic partnership between the angel and the demon, but will possibly mark a new friendship between the two.

It can be recalled that Crowley has his own score to settle against Lucifer after he used Cas to usurp Crowley's throne in hell last season.

Meanwhile, the next episode of the show — entitled "The Foundry" — will see Mary Winchester back in action.

"When a crying baby leads to death in a mysterious abandoned house, Mary, Sam and Dean decide to investigate. Meanwhile, Castiel's hunt for Lucifer leads him to begrudgingly partner with Crowley," the synopsis read.

Meanwhile, a report by iTechpost hint that a new mysterious character will appear in the show as "Supernatural" explores the backstory of the Winchesters.
