'Supernatural' season 12 news, episode 6 spoilers: Mary and Jody act after a hunter's death

Mary and Jody come face-to-face in "Supernatural" Season 12, episode 6 on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW. The CW

After making the choice to turn her back on hunting, could Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) return to help her boys hunt once again?

It would seem so as the latest synopsis for episode 6 — titled "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox" — hints that the tragic death of a fellow hunter will bring the mother and her sons back together.

"Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Mary are forced into action when a demon starts picking off hunters one by one at a gathering to celebrate the life of late hunter Asa Fox," the synopsis read.

Meanwhile, the latest episode promo hints that the solemn event will be marred by the presence of a demon who will trap the guests in the house where the gathering is held to pick them off one by one. According to the synopsis, it will be up to the Winchesters to stop the killings and save their fellow hunters from the threat.

While it remains to be seen whether the death is connected to the haunting, it would also be interesting to see the meeting between Sherriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and Mary as the sheriff has served as a mother figure to the boys for the longest time. An early publicity photo shows the two women standing side by side, but they seem quite awkward with one another. Fans are also wondering whether this new case could lure Mary back into the family business.

Meanwhile, fans have been connecting the previous episode of "Supernatural" to the victory of president elect Donald Trump in the recently concluded elections in the US. In episode 5 of season 12, Sam and Dean stopped necromancers from bringing Hitler back from the dead.

Some viewers have made the comparison because throughout the campaign season, observers have likened Trump to Hitler due to his similar policies. It was speculated that the rather comedic approach to the Nazi leader could be the show's way of ridiculing Trump's victory.

"Supernatural" season 12, episode 6 — titled "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox" — will air on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
