'Supernatural' season 11 spoilers: Sam and Dean to get help from unlikely people to defeat the Darkness

Supernatural CW

"Supernatural" season 11 will see the biggest adversary the Winchester brothers will ever come across. Darkness now looms over the city and it is quickly enveloping the planet. While Dean and Sam have each other's back, they are going to need tons of help to defeat their new enemy.

Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam in the series, knows it is no easy feat to beat an opponent that basically predates them all. During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, the actor revealed that they will be needing support from basically anyone with the right abilities, even the unlikeliest ones.

"We're going to have to maybe go to Metatron for help or Castiel, and we don't even know what they know because the Darkness predates them as well," Padalecki said.

He was then quick to assure fans that the brothers will do everything to win this war, saying, "We're going to see the boys really stop at no end to right this wrong they've brought onto this Earth."

Meanwhile, executive producer Andrew Dabb said that the Darkness will do more than just bring trouble in season 11.

"There are ways – because the Darkness is such a big thing – to connect a lot of our different characters in terms of the impact on the witches, the impact on Hell and on Heaven and on the guys," Dabb told Comicbook Resources

As fans already know, the Darkness will take the form of new character Amara, who Dabb said is special for being an "alien to this world." On top of that, Dean will also deal with the consequences of killing Death, which created "some issues, particularly among souls, particularly among reapers."

The executive producer said that this will be played out at least over the first half of season 11, with the series diving into it as early as the second episode.

"Supernatural" season 11 will premiere on Oct. 7.
