'Supernatural' season 11 spoilers: Darkness' powers

Supernatural CW

God did not have much of a presence in the recent seasons of "Supernatural," but that might change in the upcoming season as the powers and abilities he has can come in handy in defeating the new bad guy.

The Darkness was set free just as the Mark of Cain was removed from Dean's system. It is touted as the Winchester brothers' biggest adversary yet. Jared Padalecki, who plays Dean, has already said that this new baddie "opens the door" for God and even Lucifer to show up.

In "Supernatural" season 11, the Darkness will take the form of the femme fatale Amara. She is described as both seductive and sinister. She arrives on Earth and immediately develops disgust toward it, and this feeling seems to be too intense as she decides to get rid of the planet altogether.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jensen Ackles, who plays Sam, revealed that not much is known with regard to the abilities of the Darkness aka Amara. This, however, is expected to be explored as season 11 progresses.

"As of right now, we have it built as one specific entity. Obviously, that would be a character that we're introducing. But whatever the reach of that character, what that character can do, we're not quite sure of. We don't know the scope of her powers," the actor explained. "This one's interesting because it's not really a monster. It's more of a primal force that we know nothing about. There's no lore; there's no guidebook; there's no instruction manual on how to deal with this."

Apart from being the most frightening force to threaten Earth, the Darkness also happens to predate everyone including Castiel and even Metatron. This is why the Winchesters will need all the help they can get to stop it from destroying the planet.

Whether God, who is believed to be Chuck played by Rob Benedict, will help out, fans will know when "Supernatural" season 11 premieres on Oct. 7.
