Someone from Cat's (Calista Flockhart) murky past will come to see her when the hit CBS series "Supergirl" returns for its midseason premiere.

TV Line reports that the estranged son of the CEO of CatCo Worldwide Media will arrive in National City. Viewers learn in episode 8 titled "Hostile Takeover" that Cat was married and she has a son. She told Kara (Melissa Benoist) the truth when hackers threatened her privacy. According to Cat, Adam Foster (Blake Jenner) was raised by his father. She said that it was for the best, her kid growing with a normal life and away from the spotlight that her job entails.

For her part, Kara was made to realize what her mother must have felt when she sent her daughter to Earth on her own. In a rare show of weakness to her timid assistant, Cat found herself listening to Kara as the latter shared her own experience of growing up away from her parents. Now that Adam is already a man, and a hunky one at that, it seems like the time has come for mother and son to finally be reunited. His arrival will be tumultuous.

Not only will Adam draw strong emotions from his mother, but he will reportedly ignite something inside the usually shy Kara. It was previously reported that he would be another love interest for the superhero, aside from Jimmy (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan). With Adam trying to turn Kara's head, viewers can expect that her love life will be a complete mess in the upcoming episodes.

At the moment, Kara is still very much enamored with Jimmy. Unfortunately for her, he is still erecting invisible walls between them. Superman's best buddy treats Kara as if she is his good friend, and while it pretty much hurts her, she is handling it okay. Winn, meanwhile, still has not gotten the courage to admit his feelings for her. Will the next episodes be the right time to confess that he likes her?

"Supergirl" returns Monday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
