'Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void' news: Blizzard details Patch 3.0

 US Battle.net

Building the hype for its upcoming "Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void," gaming industry giant Blizzard has teased fans with what's coming in the new installment.

In a blog post on the official Battle site, Blizzard let fans in for a preview of the many changes in the upcoming title, particularly with a new update. Aside from the new installment, the "Starcraft" series is also set to receive a new patch, already the third for the game.

One of the most notable change in Patch 3.0 is the upgraded system and user interface for players. According Blizzard, one of the major changes in the new user interface is making it "more social," with multiple opened windows for chats, increased maximum number of players per chat channel, and other automated social features such as auto log-ins in general chat communities and automatically removing inactive players from chat rooms.

Meanwhile, aside from the chat improvements, general changes were also made with the user interface windows. Changing greatly from the second installment, "Heart of the Swarm," the third update "Legacy of the Void" will see a much improved campaign screen, which may look familiar to hardcore fans as it looks and feels like the one from the original "Starcraft" title, notes PCGamer. 3D scenes are now prominently displayed, with other interface items such as navigation, sub-navigations, and party panel relegated as window tabs on the top of the screen.

The arcade interface also got upgraded in the upcoming patch. The games tracker is now easier to browse, with information about sub-navigations already appearing in the same window, making game selections much more convenient. In addition, for those who are new to the game, the user interface also has a new window – a list of hotkeys which both new users and hardcore fans can use as reference to familiarize themselves in the new interface format.

Blizzard has yet to announce the release date for Patch 3.0, but fans may expect the update to roll out after "Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void" goes live on Nov. 10.
