'Star Wars: Rogue One' spoilers: Original trilogy character to make a cameo, new killer droid to arrive

A young Han Solo is rumored to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming spinoff film "Star Wars: Rogue One." According to Making Star Wars, the new actor to play a younger version of the scruffy-looking nerf herder will be the one to appear in the spinoff film.

The site says that the Han Solo that will be shown in "Star Wars: Rogue One" will be "BoShek-type," which simply means a smuggler and pilot-for-hire. Disney is working hard to cast a young Han Solo early so that he can make it in the movie.

Making Star Wars adds that the young Han Solo's stint in "Star Wars: Rogue One" will involve Jabba the Hutt, who is said to have "brokered information to the rebels."

Rumor has it that Disney is now down to three actors (from a shortlist of 10 stars and 2500 who auditioned) for the role – Alden Ehrenreich from "Hail, Caesar!" Jack Reynor from "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and "Kingsman: Secret Service" star Taron Egerton.

Meanwhile, other iconic characters from the original trilogy such as bounty hunters Bossk, Dengar and IG-88 will all be briefly appearing in "Star Wars: Rogue One."

Apart from familiar faces, "Star Wars" fans can also expect a new droid on the block. "Firefly" alum Alan Tudyk is said to play the role of a droid that Making Star Wars claims is an 8-foot "Enforcer" droid that looks like it can squash anybody easily. The site has an in-depth description here.

Tudyk's motion capture character is allegedly some sort of a reprogrammed Imperial robot that helps the Rebel heroes. Apart from the humongous droid, "Star Wars: Rogue One" will allegedly introduce black-suited Stormtroopers believed to be called Shadowtroopers.

"Star Wars: Rogue One" hits the screen on Dec. 16, 2016. A prequel three-comic miniseries will be released by Marvel starting October and another comic will also be released at a later date.
