'Star Wars: Battlefront' news: 'Battle of Jakku' free DLC launches for title pre-orders

While it has been weeks since "Star Wars: Battlefront" rolled out its official version, many players are still getting excited over the title since there will still be upcoming expansion for both content and gameplay for the newest "Star Wars" franchise game title.

The latest DLC for the title, Battle of Jakku, will not come out until Dec. 8. However, players who have pre-ordered "Star Wars: Battlefront" will have the first glimpse of the expansion content as it rolls out Dec. 1, and first impressions are favorable.

According to GameSpot, one of the best features for the title and the first DLC is that players, particularly hardcore "Star Wars" fans, can immerse themselves in epic battles and even recreate particular moments in the franchise such as X-Wings vs. Tie Fighters, or rebel forces duking it out with AT-AT walkers. Kotaku noted that based on earlier reports and teasers from publisher Electronic Arts, both airpseeders and AT-AT walkers will have pivotal roles in the latest DLC, both for offensive and defensive purposes.

The official blurb on the EA Star Wars website says the "Battle of Jakku" DLC will add at least two new maps to "Star Wars: Battlefront." The battle is "the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens," it continues.

Aside from two new maps, Destructoid mentioned that the new DLC will also feature a new 20 vs. 20 mode, Turning Point, which will have Rebel forces trying to wrestle control choke points in pivotal locations to drive back the Empire.

The "Battle of Jakku" DLC is the first of the planned free expansions for "Star Wars: Battlefront." The full version will release to the rest of the players on Dec. 8.
