Fans who no longer want to see the wise-cracking web-slinger in the same old origin story would be glad to know that the highly-anticipated "Spider-Man" movie will not be retelling what previous films about the hero already told. Marvel head Kevin Feige himself broke the news.
Contrary to reports that character Miles Morales may be the one swinging on the big screen next, Marvel and Sony are sticking with Peter Parker for the upcoming "Spider-Man" movies. The story will revolve around a teenage version of Parker, "15 to 16 [years old] is right," as Feige said.
"We want to play with Spider-Man in the high school years because frankly there've been five Spider-Man films and the amazing thing about it is, even though there've been five Spider-Man films, there are so many things from the comics that haven't been done yet," Feige told Collider.
"Not just characters or villains or supporting characters, but sides to his character. The most obvious being the 'young, doesn't quite fit in' kid before his powers and then the fella that puts on a mask and swings around and fights bad guys and doesn't shut up," Feige said, adding that's he's excited to work on "[revealing] it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers."
Feige also touched on the possibility of having Miles Morales on the big screen in the future. He talked more about the prospect during an interview with MTV.
"There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don't know it yet," Feige teased.
And speaking of the Spider-Man costume, Feige and the folks at Marvel already got that covered.
"We've already designed the costume, which is different than any of the ones that have come before," he revealed to MTV. "And yet ours is classic Spidey as I think you'll see."
Spider-Man already sounds cool with what Feige said, but nothing beats seeing the real deal in action. The superhero will reportedly swing his way to "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6 next year and onto his solo film, which will be shown on July 28, 2017.
