For those who are wondering if the upcoming Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will indeed hold true to its word by putting its 4K display to good use, well, here is some good news.
According to a statement issued by Sony to PhoneArena, the Xperia Z5 Premium will indeed tote a 4K display resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) based on SID standard which will enable all videos and images to be enjoyed in 4K resolution.
However, all other content aside from those mentioned will be displayed at 1080p or lower. The reason behind this is to optimize battery life and make sure that owners will enjoy 4K resolution when it is actually needed.
So for those who were wondering about the switch between 4K and Full HD, well this pretty much explains it. The main reason behind it all is to spare the device's battery from overuse and hold true as well to its claim of being reliable for at least two days.
As far as overheating, which is reportedly not a serious issue tied up with the Sony Xperia Z5, it seems that such has been addressed with the presence of dual heat pipes for better ventilation. Remember that the device does make use of a Snapdragon 810 chipset which carries a bit of the overheating issue when used.
The explanation of the 4K display issue follows an earlier report posted about the waterproofing of the said device.
To reiterate, waterproof does not necessarily mean that the device can be dipped in water. Rather, it is more being protected even after getting wet from rain or accidental spillage, just like with water-resistant watches.
So if the awesome display paired with the 23-megapixel camera is something you want to use underwater, perhaps it would be best to get hold of those airtight bags to properly seal your device and then snap those shots underwater.
