Sony Mobile already started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Sony Xperia Z2 and Sony Xperia Z3 series in the Baltic and Nordic regions mid-March, but the mobile manufacturer has not sent out the updates to other countries yet.

The official blog for Sony Mobile recently unveiled the plans for the roll out of the latest Android mobile operating system. Despite the slow roll out of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, the Japanese tech giant claimed that these last-generation devices will still get it in time.

"We know that Sony Mobile is set to deliver the Android Lollipop update across all Xperia Z phones. So far the Lollipop experience has started to roll for the Xperia Z3 and Z2 models, whilst the older Z series are still waiting," the entry in Sony Mobile's official blog claimed.

"However, Sony has not forgotten about the older models and released a teaser for Lollipop on the classic Xperia Z. Not much is given away apart from the Lollipop lockscreen on the Xperia Z with the tagline "Coming soon..." We'll let you know once we have a better idea of rollout," it added.

Sony Mobile's will reportedly be rolled out in separate phases, and it could take a while before all the devices under the Sony Xperia Z product lines receive the new operating system.

This means that the users of Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 as well as the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet in the US will still have to wait longer before the Android 5.0 Lollipop update reaches them.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Sony Xperia Z4 flagship device is rumored to be unveiled during the IFA 2015 show in Berlin on September 9 to 15, after the device failed to make it at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona last month. The new flagship device reportedly comes with the Android 5.0 Lollipop straight out of the box.
