With Abbie's (Nicole Beharie) fate still unclear, spoilers claim that someone will take her place, albeit temporarily, as Ichabod's (Tom Mison) partner in the second half of season 3 of the FOX series "Sleepy Hollow."
There are still several days until viewers finally learn what happened to their favorite Witness after she failed to get out of Pandora's (Shannyn Sossamon) tree during the midseason finale. Abbie used the shard to absorb all the Anubis energy inside Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood). She then brought the orb to the portal, where it could do no damage. Before she could get out, though, a huge explosion took place. Horrified, Jenny and Ichabod could only watch and fear for Abbie's life.
Is she really dead? As the female protagonist of the story, this will be a bit too hard to believe. Showrunner Clifton Campbell even hinted in his recent interview that things would work out right for Abbie, when she eventually reunites with Ichabod at a specific point in the series.
"Things change dramatically once you take one of the key components out of the dynamic between Crane and Abbie. A lot of questions and a lot of need and desire comes to the surface, and it comes together in a very nice way," he said.
If Abbie will not be returning soon in season 3B, who then will be assisting Ichabod in his work as a Witness? According to TV Line, a new ally will surface to help him and his friends out in Abbie's absence. The mystery person's arrival could not have come at a better time, as Ichabod will reportedly be dealing with a huge problem in the midseason premiere. Is his savior Ezra (James McDaniel), Abbie and Jenny's estranged father, or the green hand Sophie (Jessica Camacho)?
Coincidentally, the website also reports that another part is interested in Abbie's disappearance. Could it be Daniel (Lance Gross), her boss in FBI? He is bound to look for his trusted agent. Perhaps, he will voluntarily designate himself as the ally that will help Ichabod in his battle against Pandora and The Hidden One (Peter Mensah)?
"Sleepy Hollow" season 3 will return on Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
