Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod (Tom Mison) still have each other's back as they face the second tribulation in the upcoming season of the Fox's series "Sleepy Hollow."
Spoiler TV reports that the duo will get much needed guidance from the mysterious tablet they discovered last installment. The old amulet speaks of a dark prophecy surrounding the witnesses, information that they can use to fight off the new evil forces that want to wreak havoc in Sleepy Hollow.
The premiere episode of season 3 will spring the viewers forward into the future. The story picks up a year after the events of the finale, where Abbie has become an FBI agent and Ichabod spent some time off in England. TV Over Mind reports that both are sporting new looks for the upcoming installment. The promo photos released by the network show the witnesses flaunting shorter hairstyles.
Meanwhile, though the headless horseman will be noticeably absent when the series returns in October, a new set of interesting monsters are slated to make Abbie and Ichabod's life very difficult indeed. Entertainment Weekly reports that viewers will be introduced to three beasts unlike any they have ever seen on the show.
Jack the Ripper, the notorious serial killer, is the first villain that the witnesses must defeat. To overcome him, they need to crack one of history's most cryptic series of unsolved murders. The second evil they must take down is the Abyzou, a tooth fairy. Ichabod's old nemesis in both lifetimes will once again meddle with his mission to save the town from destruction.
The last of the bunch is potentially the most difficult to face, especially for Ichabod. The pair will have to battle a Draugur, a brigade of undead British soldiers who came back to Sleepy Hollow under the orders of a General Howe. The warriors will rise from their final resting place to complete what they started 240 years ago, when they were at war with the Americans.
"Sleepy Hollow" season 3 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
