Those who are enthusiasts of Nintendo's amiibo figurines are in for a surprise, as Activision revealed a special edition bundle for its upcoming battle royale title, "Skylanders SuperChargers". Those who would be purchasing the special edition title will receive exclusive versions of the game's hybrid amiibo figures.
First revealed during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the publisher has announced that the bundle, dubbed as "Dark Edition," will have exclusive amiibo toys for the PlayStation 3 and 4, and Xbox One and 360. The "Dark Edition" includes a dark version of the Hot Streak, Stealth Elf, and Spitfire Skylander characters.
However, it seems that Activision and Nintendo have special plans for the Wii and Wii U editions, since Nintendo character amiibo toys are not compatible with versions of "Skylanders SuperChargers" for Sony and Microsoft consoles.
For the Wii U "Dark Edition" of the platform title, aside from the Spitfire and Hot Streak amiibo figures, players will also receive a dark version of Turbo Charge Donkey Kong, as well as the Barrel Blaster, Donkey Kong's vehicle in the "Skylander SuperChargers" game.
Meanwhile, the Wii "Dark Edition" will get players Hammer Slam Bowser and his "Skylanders" vehicle, the Clown Cruiser. This is in addition to the same Spitfire and Hot Streak dark versions.
The dark version amiibo toys are different from the regular Starter Pack, which comes with the character's regular colors. For those who would really want to collect all figurines for the game, the "Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition" Starter Pack can be purchased for $100, while the regular Starter Packs retail at $75. However, amiibo collectors would need to purchase both the Wii and Wii U "Dark Edition" bundles in order to complete the "Skylanders" set.
"Skylanders SuperChargers" will be launched on Sept. 20 for the Xbox One and 360; PlayStation 4 and 3; Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Wii U; and iOS.
