Samsung Galaxy S7 release date, specs rumors: New flagship slated for early 2016 release?

Upcoming Samsung handsets are always a hot topic within rumor mills, especially with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5 expected to be launched at the company's Aug. 13 Unpacked event. However, these phablets are not the only ones getting attention, with the purported Galaxy S7 already being talked about.

Sam Mobile claims that the flagship will be here soon. Samsung is reportedly prepared to change its release tradition for the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus to steal Apple's thunder — the next iPhone release is speculated to be held in September — but Tech Radar also says that the Samsung Galaxy S7's early unveiling is necessary since the S6 and the S6 Edge Plus reportedly didn't sell well.

The new top-of-the-line S7 is apparently the first device Samsung will use the new "Agile" development method on. This method is said to shorten the production period by one to two months, allowing Samsung to churn out flagships faster than ever. That said, the Samsung Galaxy S7 might already come out early next year.

Samsung previously went for a method codenamed "Waterfall," which is reportedly more rigid and time-consuming. According to reports, the tech giant spends longer time on individual phases with this approach. Going by "Agile" is believed to be what Samsung has come up with to redeem its popularity and stellar sales performance.

This is why instead of waiting for the annual IFA event in September, Samsung is already launching new products in two days' time. As for the Samsung Galaxy S7, Asia Today claims that the production of the smartphone will be finished by September, making it available as early as January next year.

It is too early for details on the flagship's specs sheet to come out although Tech Radar says that the upcoming handset will get a major upgrade in the camera department. Other than that, there are only vague speculations on what the Samsung Galaxy S7 will pack and look like.
