Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge cameras to power up

 T-Mobile

Samsung's current flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, were released early this year, but it seems that the company is eager to update the devices to the latest Android version.

Early in March, Google released the follow up to last year's Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The newer 5.1 version brought the needed fixes and improvements across all devices that were not addressed by the 5.0 version. In addition, to keep up with the enhancements and to stamp out other bugs and glitches in their platform, Google released a micro update, hence bringing the current Lollipop version to 5.1.1.

What will this mean to new devices like the current flagship models of Samsung, the S6 and S6 Edge? According to reports, the new version will not only bring about enhancements in the performance specs of the devices, but the update will also bring improvements on the handsets' features.

For example, the camera for the Galaxy S6 is expected to become more powerful than it currently is. According to Samsung fan and observer site Sam Mobile, the updated 5.1.1 Lollipop version will bring full support for Samsung's camera API. This means that the new S6, updated to the newest 5.1.1 update, could shoot images in RAW and give users extra control options like shutter speed and focus.

In addition, the move for the S6 and S6 Edge to switch over to the newest 5.1.1 update is reportedly in conjunction with another update for a device codenamed Samsung Zen/ Samsung Noble . According to unconfirmed reports, the code refers to the upcoming Galaxy Note 5.

No details yet have been made on the date when the 5.1.1 update will roll out for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but based on leaks and rumors already circulating, owners of these Samsung devices might not have that long to wait.
