Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge price discount update: Demand issues sparks price change?

It looks like folks can look forward to a cheaper price tag for the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge with word that the company is planning to slash the price of these devices soon.

Although there is no official information yet on how much the new SRP would be, the said price cut is reportedly due to miscalculations as far as the demand is concerned, according to Samsung's mobile communications vice president Park Jinyoung as reported by The Associated Press.

While the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge did perform well in the market, it seems that the company overlooked the supplies for each. With the S6 Edge gaining popularity particularly for its curved display, the S6 didn't fare quite as well.

That plus the fact that the company has incurred yet a fifth straight drop in quarterly earnings as bared in an article from the Associated Press. This is a not-so-good occurrence which hasn't given the company anything to cheer about as they continue to struggle in the smartphone market.

Although the hype on the S6 and S6 Edge had earlier gotten many consumers interested, the sales targets weren't met. Despite the slowdown in decline rate in mobile profits, it remains that the company has been incurring consecutive drops which doesn't place their continued skid in check.

This development is, of course, a big blow for the company who had hoped to keep abreast with Apple's own offerings, the iPad 6 and iPad 6 plus.

While the price cuts could entice people to consider getting one, there is another constraint that they may have to look out for — the upcoming month of October is when many device vendors, Samsung and Apple included, are expected to unveil a whole new batch of devices.

It is too early to see if Samsung's next device can resolve their dip in sales forecast, but unless it is something that could woo buyers from other brands, they might continue to see losses.

As far as the planned price cut for the S6 and S6 Edge is concerned, such could be bad news as well. Why would one buy a previous version of a smartphone variant when new ones may be coming in a couple of months?
