Samsung Galaxy Note 8 price, specs, release date, rumors: new flagship's model numbers emerge

The model numbers for the upcoming Galaxy S flagship phones were mentioned earlier this year. Now, it is in the rumor mill again.

Evan Blass, the reliable leaker, also known as @evleaks on Twitter, posted yesterday that a Samsung device with a model number of SM-N950 is in the works. This clearly suggests that the device is the Galaxy Note series phone. This is in addition to the SM-G950 and SM-G955 models that are the included in the Galaxy S8 lineup.

Blass said in his post, "Samsung Galaxy S8 models are indeed skipping SM-G94* model numbers, will ship as SM-G950 & SM-G955. Know what else is in the works? SM-N950."

The previous models, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, used the model numbers SM-G920 and G925. This year, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge carried the SM-G930 and G935 numbers. The community expects that the next models will carry SM-G940 and G945. However, it was previously reported that it is the belief of the South Koreans that number 4 is associated with bad luck, thus, the company is said to be skipping the number and will use the number 5 instead.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is speculated to be powered by the Exynos 8895 or by the Qualcomm and Snapdragon 830 processor, paired with 6 GB of RAM. It is also said to feature a 4K resolution for its bigger display screen and advanced capabilities of its cameras. Its main camera is expected to contain a dual lens system that will include 16 MP and 8 MP sensors, as well as an upgraded S Pen and a fingerprint scanner.

Additionally, it is believed that the upcoming Note smartphone will have a removable battery, after the Note 7 battery fiasco. It might also include the new digital assistant that could be called Bixby. Price wise, it is speculated to be priced higher than the Note 7. The device is projected to be more than $1,000.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to be unveiled at the upcoming MWC 2017 that will happen in February.
