In what seems to be a big deal for folks who have the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow seems to be on the verge of a release despite the fact that older phones are not expected to receive the Android bump until 2016.
According to NapiDroid, it seems that an Android 6.0 M bump will happen soon for the folks over in Hungary. The update was spotted by some customers, with the Android 6.0 M rolling out for units with model SM-N910F or the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
The bit does come as a surprise considering that most Galaxy Note 4 owners have been getting an update but only the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and not the Android 6.0 M (or higher).
The reason for this is the belief that newer handsets would be receiving Android 6.0 M using the top-down approach. And while the update seems to come unexpectedly, folks are likely to approve rather than question it.
Among the features to expect include a redesigned TouchWiz UI and a new Air Command Menu that is activated when a user removes the S-Pen, which should make it easier to take down notes and such.
Similar to the updates made on the other Android smartphones, it comes with new features highlighted by the "Doze App" which should help improve battery life as well as power management.
There is also the Google "Now On Tap", "App Standby," and better permission management when it comes to apps accessing vital information on the device.
Do take note that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is available only to unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
This means that units which are tied up with their mobile carriers may have to wait a bit until an official release is made after soak tests and signing for their Samsung Galaxy Note 4 units.
Again, some friendly reminders in case the update is already available. Make sure the device is charged at least 50% and that it has a stable Internet connection to ensure proper downloading of the patch.
