Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 2016 specs, release date: Second-gen phone with quad-core CPU spotted

Now that Samsung has released their top-tier smartphones, they are now prepping up for entry- and mid-level phones. One of them was spotted in a GFXBench listing, which is believed to be the Galaxy Grand Prime 2016 and sports a quad-core processor.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime 2016 that has a model number of SM-G532F will have the MediaTek MT6737 T CPU. It has a clock speed of 1.4 GHz and will come with the Mali-T720 GPU. It will also arrive with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which will definitely be expandable via a microSD card.

The GFXBench result also shows an 8MP main camera, capable of recording HD (1280 x 720) videos, while the front contain a 5MP. The display screen is pegged at 5 or 5.1-inch and will offer a 960 x 540 p resolution. It will also arrive with an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, out of the box. It made 599 points for its single-core and 1,790 points for the multi-core on the Geekbench test.

GSM Arena added that its CPU uses the 28 nm FinFET manufacturing process, which is not power efficient. The chip is also not that powerful. However, it is a low-cost processor, and will bring the retail price considerably low as well.

Its predecessor was released almost two years ago, and contained a Qualcomm Snapdrgaon 410, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with an expansion slot for up to a 64GB microSD card. The camera sensors were the same with the previous model, while a removable 2,600 mAh battery provides the electrical juice. Its model number is SM-530x and looks very similar to the upcoming device. It was also offered in white, gray and gold colors.

The Samsung Grand Prime 2016 is expected to arrive next month or early October, similar to its predecessor.
