Salvation Army return to New International HQ in London

The Salvation Army International Headquarters have moved out of their temporary home for the past three years at William Booth College in Denmark Hill, London, and back to their newly redeveloped offices.

In a farewell message, Chief of Staff, Commissioner Israel L.Gaither said, “Thank you for permitting us to share in your pilgrimage. You have given us a gift these past three years.”

Gaither thanked the college for its generosity during the Valedictory Meeting taking place in William Booth College.

The Salvation Army IHQ had to temporarily relocate in 2001 when their International Trustee Company reached an agreement with Hines Real Estate Holdings Limited Partnership to redevelop the traditional HQ building at 101 Queen Victoria Street in London.

The “101 Building Project”, as it has been nick-named, has sent he original HQ site turned into two separate individual buildings. One will be used as the IHQ and the other will be used for commercial letting, according to the Salvation Army.

The IHQ will be situated between St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern Gallery, and will feature visitor information services.

The attendees at the meeting concluded by singing “What a work the Lord has done”, and a benediction was given by Commissioner Raymond Houghton, Information Secretary to the Chief of Staff.
