The last time we saw Ronda Rousey in public was at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 193 and the events that happened after that. Everyone knows, of course, that Rousey lost to Holly Holm at the time, knocked out and brought down hard to reality.
Just last week, the latest update on Rousey came from ESPN The Magazine which in all describes how down she is but definitely not out. She admits having been jarred by that left front kick that Holly Holm landed, knocking her out. Aside from that, she had a split lip that needed attention.
Now putting all those things together, one had to wonder when (and if she) would eventually make an appearance soon. And through all that, everyone forgot that Rousey made a promise to Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert that she would attend the Marine Corps Ball with him.
Despite all the things that happened to her, Rousey kept her promise and popped up at the ball held in South Carolina.
Her appearance at the Marine Corps Ball is one of the rare occasions that Rousey was seen in public after that devastating loss. In a way, the promise she made to Haschert could be a blessing in disguise, something that could alleviate her depressed state.
Based on the images posted on Instagram, it looks like Rousey is all good at least for the night. It at least takes her mind off the defeat and hopefully, something that can help her get back on track.
Rousey and Holm are expected to have a rematch at UFC 200 which will be held in July 2016.
Right now, there are concerns on whether or not Rousey will have ample time to get up and prepare for that July tiff. Such was aired by Holm's manager Lenny Fresquez and also by Miesha Tate.
Tate was someone mentioned as a possible opponent for Holm to keep her active but the UFC thumbed it down.
