"Resident Evil: Revelations 2," one of Capcom's runaway hit titles based on the hugely-popular survival horror game franchise, is set to be released for the Sony PS Vita next month. In an announcement on the official Sony U.S. Playstation blog, Gio Corsi, director for third-party production for SCEA, stated that the game will make its way to the Sony handheld system on Aug. 18 in North America.

The handheld version of the second installment in the original "Resident Evil: Revelations" chapter will be made available for fans via a digital release on the PlayStation Store for $39.99.

In addition to the announcement, Corsi also laid out extra bonus content that will come with the title's release. Aside from the four main episodes, in which players need to solve the mystery from the back stories of the main characters, there will also be two extra episodes, "The Struggle" and "Little Miss." "The Struggle" takes players through the eyes of Moira as she tries to survive in between Claire's departure and Barry's arrival on the island. Meanwhile, the second extra episode will reveal more about Natalia and her special abilities.

In addition to the six over-all episodes in the story mode, gamers can also play as different characters in the title's Raid Mode. The second installment will have 15 playable characters, including mode mainstays Hunk and Albert Wesker. Moreover, there will be more than 200 missions with additional content that includes storage expansions for the different gears, weapons, parts, and albums. There will also be a throwback map pack and extra costumes for the different characters.

Raid Mode's co-op play via the PlayStation Network will be available for players right from the title release. Meanwhile, Sony will add the ad-hoc feature that will connect two or more players simultaneously at a later date.
