Remastered 'Darksiders 2' releasing in winter

 Gunfire Games website

Good news for fans of the "Darksiders" title — a new remastered edition is currently in the works and will be launched this coming winter.

The development of the new version of "Darksiders 2" has been taken over by Gunfire Games. However, what is interesting is that the studio is comprised of people who have worked on the original "Darksiders" from Vigil Games. Many fans may remember that Vigil Games closed shop before realizing its dream of a "Darksiders" trilogy.

According to the announcement at Gunfire Games' website, "Most of the crew at Gunfire are originally from Vigil Games, so working on 'Darksiders' is like hanging out with an old friend. We are excited to be involved in the HD upgrade for 'Darksiders II' (technically the original release was HD, so let's just call this mega-ultra-super HD)."

In addition, the new developer promises that, although the upcoming title is a remastered version, it will still give hardcore fans a new experience, different from that of the original "Darksiders 2." The "Deathinitive Edition" not only has improved gameplay, it also incorporates a new design. The upcoming title will have improved lighting and 1080p resolution, aside from other game tweaks.

The post added, "This isn't a simple port. We've put a lot of time to improve both the visuals and gameplay to make it on par with current releases. It's been fun adding more polish to a game that is near and dear to our hearts."

The new developer also has plans for a new project that would be based on the "Darksiders" world, and fans expect this to come out after the remastered edition. However, Gunfire Games said that they will be concentrating on the "Deathinitive Edition" first.

No specific date has yet been detailed on when the new title will come out, but Gunfire Games said that it will definitely be launched in winter.
