Aside from overthrowing Mary (Adelaide Kane), Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) will also have her hands full managing her complicated love life when the CW series "Reign" returns for its third season.

Design & Trend reports that the Queen of England will still be deeply involved in a love triangle with Robert Dudley (Charlie Carrick) and his wife. While her personal life will indeed be dramatic, her quest to trump her cousin from the throne will still be her priority. In fact, she will bring in new players in the game to ensure that victory will be hers.

Elizabeth will reportedly form alliance with Catherine (Megan Follows), who, according to TV Line, "will use every means necessary to claw her way back to power." Her fall from grace last season is obviously still very painful for her. This time, she will be capitalizing on her alliances with other countries to get what she wants.

Aside from Catherine, two more powerful men will be joining Elizabeth's court for the upcoming installment. Realty Today reports that William (Tom Everett Scott), the queen's trusted counselor, will pay homage to his patron. Elizabeth's secret spy, who has gone on to become English Ambassador to France, will also be helping her get to the throne.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Laurie McCarthy gave some insights on how Elizabeth's mind works as she plans to overthrow Mary. She said that the Queen of England actually shares some traits with both Mary and Catherine, as she also feels "very much alone in a man's world."

"They live in a patriarchy still. And she's the ruler of England and she's feeling threatened. And like Catherine, she thinks the end justifies the means. She is, beyond even Catherine in some ways, a survivalist."

"Reign" will return on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
