'Pokemon GO' update news: players risk being banned if they try cutting corners with GPS-cheating apps

The newest sensational game "Pokemon GO" needs players to leave their home but a lot of players are using GPS spoofing as a means of working around this. As such, these players will soon be banned because it is considered cheating.

According to Game Rant, ever since this augmented-reality game was released, a plethora of various apps have emerged for the sole purpose of deceiving the phone's GPS, allowing the players to be somewhere else without actually leaving their doorstep. The most popular of these apps include Necrobot, Pokebuddy and MyGoBot, with the last one just released recently.

This website lets players pay $8 for the cheat software, allowing players to never leave their homes while enjoying "Pokemon GO," cheating the system and essentially cheat the system. With the fans now going so far as to pay for cheating software, fans are expecting that Niantic will step up and punish those who use it accordingly.

A Reddit user testifies about how he discovered that using the GPS Spoofing cheat will result to a soft ban, which will basically stop players from ever collecting any items, catch Pokemon or battle gyms. This is not as bad, but if people still continue using these kinds of software, Niantic will be forced to increase the severity of their bans, which will certainly have a wide-scale impact considering the fact they can clearly detect users using illegitimate means of playing the game.

Even the owner of MyGoBot states that no one knows for sure if players will get permanently banned, and that botting will be a risky action regardless, so it is up to players as to whether or not they will use the software. Regardless, GPS spoofing is not the only way to work around the game's system, but it still is, in fact, the easiest route to go.
