Philadelphia 76ers trade rumors 2016: Sixers not agressively seeking for trade but are open

It is not a busy trade period for the hapless Philadelphia 76ers this season and even though no moves are being made, that does not mean they are closing their doors to potential deals.

The 76ers are again on track for a losing season, currently holding the worst record in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Eastern Conference at 7–42.

Philadelphia's only trade move this season is the acquisition of point guard Ish Smith from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for two future second-round picks.

Since then, even after all the losing streaks and the struggles the 76ers are going through, they have not engaged in any deal but are linked to rumors.

Despite not having an aggressive nature in this season's trade period, 76ers chairman of basketball operations Jerry Colangelo said they are open to trading.

"In terms of trade, we're not actively out there looking to make a trade," Colangelo said, according to a report on the team's website

The 76-year-old executive continued, "But, you always have to be open. Things happen usually right around All-Star break. There's a week or 10 days when there's a lot of discussion. It may lead to nothing, and I think right now we're kind of content to say there are too many question marks about certain players, health, and so forth that you have to be very careful. You have to be very selective. Timing's everything."

Philadelphia's rebuilding phase has been criticized already since they are now on pace for a fourth consecutive losing season.

Last season, the 76ers only captured 18 wins, which was the second worst in franchise history.

The last time the 76ers made it to the playoffs was during the 2011–12 season (lockout) where they finished with a 35–31 regular season record and reached the second round getting eliminated by the Boston Celtics.
