Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2015 fight 2 news: Bob Arum shoots down rematch rumors

The boxing world got shaken up a bit when a report from Yahoo Sports (via AFP) came out that the camps of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. were allegedly holding talks for a possible rematch in 2016.

The report drew mixed reactions but all of it was eventually cleared out by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum. He too was surprised and said he didn't know anything about it but later on explained that the report may have been something done due to language barriers.

"I have no idea what he's talking about," says Arum via Yahoo Sports, adding, "He said it, not me. But I have had no talks with anyone about that. None. Zero. Not one. Mayweather is retired and I take him at his word. But second, you know there is no way that Mayweather is ever going to fight in the Gulf, even if he did decide to fight again."

Just like that, another boxer has been eliminated in the mix of possible opponents for the Filipino boxer who is expected to make his ring return by early 2016.

Now, there is just one name in the mix, Amir Khan. Lucas Matthysse was another name being considered but his name has obviously been taken out after losing to Viktor Postol via knockout (KO) last weekend.

But before Khan is named as the next opponent, there could be more names placed in the mix. The names of Terence Crawford and Timothy Bradley Jr. are now being mentioned as well, although it would depend on their respective fight results.

With that said, Khan doesn't have an exact fix yet on the claimed final fight of the eight-time division boxing champion. Pacquiao and his camp will likely make an announcement either by November or December.
