'Overwatch' news: Developers bow to fan pressure to change Mercy skin

The new Halloween-themed skin for the "Overwatch" character Mercy Blizzard Games 2016

After the launch of the "Overwatch" game's big Halloween event just a few days ago, a lot of the players have been enjoying themselves in the seasonal event, as players are wont to do. This is regardless of whether they are hunting for the various Halloween-exclusive cosmetics for each character or simply just participating in the new co-op Brawl mode called "Junkenstein's Revenge."

According to Game Rant, one of the fan favorite characters — Mercy (aka Angela Ziegler) — has received an unprecedented amount of attention due to her Halloween costume. The degree of change is of such scale that a lot of fans are asking for one of the changes made for her to be permanent.

After all, the latest update for the game has introduced her new legendary witch skin with the exclusive voice line "My servants never die" used in the game's "Junkenstein's Revenge" brawl.

However, the new voice line originally will not be included when players get to unlock the skin. As such, a lot of players have started petitioning for Mercy's Ultimate voice line "Heroes never die" to be replaced with the Halloween one as a skin-exclusive.

As such, according to Game Ranx, fans of the game have submitted the petition to the Blizzard forums, which garnered more than a thousand upvotes as well as more than 400 comments that support the idea of having the custom soundbite for the special skin. This is supported by statements from "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan, saying that the new line will be added mid-November.

However, it is yet to be confirmed whether or not other characters will get new lines due to their unique skins, but a lot of players are hopefully keeping their fingers crossed. After all, the fast response time from the director himself means that fan communication is good, and it is possible that the fans will get to enjoy more perks for the game soon.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
