Fans will see a new face in "Outlander" season 2. According to TV Line, the series is looking for someone to play the role of a key character named Brianna. This name will surely ring a bell to those who have read Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series, the novels which the show is based on.

The new character appears in the second book of the saga, "Dragonfly in Amber." A massive time jump happens in this novel and it looks like the series will stay true to its source material. In the book, Brianna is introduced as Claire and Jamie's elegant 20-year-old daughter.

The new "Outlander" season 2 character, as described by the casting call acquired by TV Line, is "strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparkling sense of humor," which she inherited from both her parents.

Brianna is also of "scholastic mindset, with a healthy dose of American strength, having been born and bred in Boston under the watchful eye of professor and historian Frank Randall." In turn, she took on the surname Randall all her life.

"Outlander" season 2 is looking for an actress who stands 5 feet 8 inches and over, one who is "earthy and grounded and not girly" while still exhibiting inexperience and vulnerability. The casting call, however, suggests a deviation from "Dragonfly in Amber."

In the TV series, Brianna will "secretly" follow Claire back in time in order to learn who her real father is and the family "she never knew." While this is in the book saga, it does not take place in the second book but rather in the fourth one, which is titled "Drums of Autumn."

It remains to be seen what this huge change means but this should not come as a shock as executive producer Ronald Moore has already stated that alterations will be made because "Dragonfly in Amber" is "more complex" than the first book.

"Outlander" season 2 is expected to debut next year.
