"Orange is the New Black" is one of those shows that follows the common practice of killing off major characters in order to deliver more shock value to the series. As such, if the reports turn out to be the truth, it could be possible that the new season of the show might feature the death of another beloved character.

According to Game N Guide, Poussey's (played by Samira Wiley) death took the fans by surprise during the penultimate episode of the last season. As such, fans have been on the lookout for signs of another major character death, and it seems that Piper (played by Taylor Schilling) is one of the characters who could most likely bid goodbye in the upcoming new season of the series.

As much as the prospect of killing off one of the most prominent and strongest character of the series seemed impossible, the death of Poussey in the last season devastated the show's fans, specifically regarding the concept of plot armor. Killing her off in the last season sends a chilling message to the fans, meaning that it is possible for their most favorite characters to be killed off at any given time.

Furthermore, according to the Christian Times, the death of Poussey has triggered a chain reaction in Litchfield. After all, Taystee (played by Danielle Brooks), will no be content with just idling around doing nothing. She will be more than willing to avenge her friend's death.

This is compounded by the fact that Caputo (played by Nick Sandow) did not even honor her. Also, Taystee has nothing to lose after she lost someone she cared deeply about, and as such she is preparing for the time to fight. It is not yet confirmed, but it is the most plausible scenario for her.

The fifth season of "Orange is the New Black" is expected to premiere in June 2017 on Netflix.
