OnePlus X to be 'invite-only' for first month

OnePlus has been known to channel sales through the usual invite-only strategy. Some hate since it makes it difficult to get hold of the device, while others understand it as needed to keep track of their product's performance.

The same strategy will be applied on the latest device by the company, the OnePlus X. With that in mind, it seems that the newest handset will be equally hard to get. But the good news is that it will only be the case for the first month, with OnePlus promising to broaden the manner through which interested buyers can get hold of the OnePlus X device.

Such was revealed at the OnePlus Blog, announcing the changes which should appease the ones who have been dreading the invite-only method.

The only thing that the first month invite-only strategy will perhaps hold are bragging rights, something some people take pride in. Those who want to try their luck may sign up in the reservation list. Nothing to lose, right?

If you feel that this would all be a waste of time, well just wait for that first month to lapse and be on the lookout for open sales, which will reportedly be done every week thereafter.

For those who are unaware of the OnePlus X, this device features a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage (expandable through microSD), a 13-megapixel main camera and something that would run on the company's patented Oxygen OS.

The best part of it is, of course, the price which is $250. With those detailed specs, that phone stands to be a good buy.

The only thing that wasn't mentioned on that blog post is whether such is applicable to all phones under their wing or simply just for the OnePlus X.
