Apparently, OnePlus is in the middle of major bottlenecks in the production of its next flagship, the OnePlus Two. In turn, the release date for the handset was reportedly pushed to the third quarter of the year from the predetermined second quarter launch. According to Forbes, manufacturing issues of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor are the one to blame.
The site further claimed that the Shenzen-based tech firm is waiting for the problems with the processor to settle before it releases its new handset, just like Samsung. The difference between the firms though is that the Galaxy S6 maker is reportedly ditching Qualcomm-made units altogether for its home-grown Exynos processors for their next flagships. The South Korean company does not seem to like the idea of having its next-generation release buckled with an overheating mainframe, not when it has done its best to make a total upgrade of the not-so well-received Galaxy S5. According to rumors, the Galaxy S6 will be a mind-blowing smartphone.
The Snapdragon 810 processor debuted in the LG G Flex 2. According to Tech Radar, no overheating concerns has arisen since its release. The site then went on to say that problems may just be distinct to manufacturers and not to the processor alone. If this is the issue that is setting back OnePlus, then the company may have to check on its device's other components as well.
Going back to OnePlus, the company is taking advantage of the holdup to reintroduce its first 64-bit device with a slight name change. Forbes has reported that the word "Two" in its name will no longer be spelled out, thus giving it a new name — OnePlus 2.
However, it is important to note that these reports have yet to be corroborated by OnePlus. And if they prove accurate, the company is sure to inform its patrons of the longer wait they will have to endure for them to see the new OnePlus 2.
