After releasing a micro update last week for its Cyanogen OS on the OnePlus One smartphones, OnePlus followed through this week with another update to fix the touchscreen issue, this time for its newer Oxygen OS.
The touchscreen glitch has been plaguing OnePlus One owners since last year, and the China-based manufacturer already acknowledged the issue and is attempting to correct it. Previous updates to fix the bug included a newer CM11S 33R build for the platform released in August and a follow-up over-the-air update in November of last year. However, both proved to only alleviate the issue temporarily.
OnePlus then released the Cyanogen 12 build last week, with incremental updates to fix the touchscreen sensitivity issues, as well as other glitches in previous builds including connectivity issues for both file transfer and in-car systems, as well as MMS sending failures on some carriers.
Meanwhile, since OnePlus has already made available its own Oxygen OS for most of the OnePlus One devices, the company said that the newer platform already contains the patch for the touchscreen issues, and will not be integrating any more updates in the near future. In addition, the company has also advised users who wish to change their Cyanogen platforms to Oxygen OS to use the migration tools found on their forums, as well as those made available by XDA developers. The tools will help users to change platforms without losing data. However, OnePlus warns that the tools are still on beta and may not work from time to time.
OnePlus is also advising fans of the Cyanogenmod OS that the planned Android 5.1 Lollipop-based platform, the CM 12.1 update, is currently on hold. The company is planning to release the next CM update after the release of the newer OnePlus 2 device, which would place the new Cyanogenmod version launch at the end of the year.
