OnePlus 2 release date, specs: U.S. launch delayed -what to expect

OnePlus has become a household name for the tech-savvy crowd due to its flagship, the OnePlus One smartphone. Launched last year, the OnePlus One was touted as a "flagship killer," bringing high-quality specs to its users at a budget-friendly price tag. The company also made the headlines because of the quirky, invites-only way that the company marketed its first flagship.

With OnePlus announcing that its next flagship, the OnePlus 2, is already rolling out, fans were again hoping to make it to the limited invite list. However, those lucky enough to make it, particularly OnePlus fans in North America, are in for a bit of bad news – the ship out dates of the new "flagship killer" has been bumped.

According to the manufacturer, those who are wishing to receive their OnePlus 2 in North America will have to wait for two to three weeks after European customers get theirs.

The post on the official OnePlus forums says, "The production of the OnePlus 2 is in full swing and we're excited to get the OnePlus 2 in your hands. However we do want to tell our users in North America that due to production schedules, shipping to the States and Canada will commence 2-3 weeks after shipments to Europe."

The delay is only for the ship out dates for North American customers, and it will not affect the opening of purchase invites. The redeeming of the invite codes for OnePlus 2 purchases at the company's website started Aug. 11.

OnePlus 2 is the follow-up to the highly successful OnePlus One "flagship killer," and like its predecessor, offers high specs at a budget-friendly price. The OnePlus 2 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor and a configured 3- and 4-GB RAM. In addition, it comes with a fingerprint sensor and a three-way switch for notification settings.
