One Direction news: Liam Payne reveals he once 'hated' his life in the band

Former One Direction member Liam Payne revealed a rough moment in his life while in the band, only to realize how much he hated it. The singer, who is currently embarking on his solo career, explained that at one time, what should have been a private night with his parents was ruined by one of the paparazzi.

The 24-year-old crooner spent a night dinner with his mom and dad when a cameraman attempted to film the moment but accidentally pushed Payne's mother. It led him to an emotional reaction when he spoke about the incident via Daily Star newspaper. He said, "I just wanted a burger with my parents. I cried my eyes out. I thought, 'I can't do this' and I really hated my life."

Payne has been open about his struggles during his time with the boyband, revealing that he and the rest of his mates could not leave their accommodations while they were on tours. He quipped that their massive fandom was so obsessed that it made it impossible for them to step outside and sneak around the area.

The singer said, "It sent me a bit of AWOL at one point, if I'm honest. I can remember when there were 10,000 people outside our hotel. We couldn't go anywhere. It was just gig to hotel, gig to hotel. And you couldn't sleep, because they'd still be outside." He went on to share that every performer needs some sun and time for a walk, especially amid the growing issue about the mental health problems among music personalities.

Payne was not the only One Direction singer to admit that the times in the band were rough. Fortunately, things are going well right now for him, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. The English singer's first solo single, "Strip That Down," even went triple-platinum. It gave him his biggest-selling track apart from his former band.

The single, which also featured Quavo, sold five million copies around the world. At the time of writing, it is currently at number one on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, succeeding his fellow One Direction mate Horan's track, "Slow Hands." It is the first time that the two members of the band skyrocketed back-to-back in the music chart.
