Will the "Once Upon a Time" executive producers' promise of including an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) relationship in season 5 finally be fulfilled with the arrival of Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Ruby (Meghan Ory)?
Fans of the long-time ABC series would like to know whether there is going to be another love story blossoming among the characters in Storybrooke. The reappearance of the two well-loved characters in the past episode seems to signal that a unique relationship will unfold. Mulan appears to have changed after getting her heart broken by Aurora (Sarah Bolger) when the latter bore Prince Charming's child.
This time, though, the arrival of the girl in the fetching red hood has brought spark back in her life. The chemistry between the two is so palpable, the viewers cannot help but think that they are the ones the EPs have planned to showcase in connection with the promised LGBT storyline. More so now, with the two of them setting off on an adventure together. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Adam Horowitz was quick to block questions regarding the potential romance between the warrior and the werewolf.
"We'd rather not comment on who it is with or what it is about. Our goal is to make it as we see it in the real world, just as normal and as a part of every day life as it should be," he shared.
It appears that the creative minds behind the hit series do not want the media to blow the sensitive issue out of proportion. Fellow executive producer Edward Kitsis confirmed this, saying they did not want the future episode to be treated differently, just because there was a gay character involved. He explained that they want the love story to be seen in the same mold others see the Snow White/Charming and Hook/Emma relationship.
"Once Upon A Time" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
