Mike Miller is officially without a team, but from the looks of it, he may be hooking up with a new team soon.
After being bought out by the Portland Trailblazers, one team in hot pursuit of Miller's services are reportedly the Denver Nuggets. It marks the second time that the team would make a go for Miller, something that would have happened last year if he did not join Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Had he agreed to join the Nuggets last year, Miller would have been enjoying a $12 million paycheck good for three years. Seeing that Miller was hardly utilized last year, it remains to be seen if the 35-year-old veteran is likely to be offered something lower and only on a one-year contract.
Miller rode the bench most of the 2014–15 season and played more of a cheerleader for the squad. He has been hit by injuries throughout his career so his current health status does become a concern.
Assuming he doesn't agree to a deal with the Nuggets, which is highly unlikely, how would Miller feel about playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC)?
Why OKC? Well, for one, the new head coach, Billy Donovan, is a former mentor who knows how to utilize the National Basketball Association (NBA) veteran. They were together with the Florida Gators, although that may have been ages ago. Still and all, could Miller be a key to help out Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in the coming season?
Seeing that the Thunder do need someone who can hit it from the outside and add some veteran smarts, such could be a possibility. But of course, the Thunder will have to wait if Denver folds or both Miller and Nuggets management fail to reach an agreement.
The good news is that either way, Miller may be suiting up for the coming season. The next question is — will he be suiting up to play or continue to ride the bench and cheer on his teammates?
At 35, Miller is no longer as sturdy as he used to but he does bring rich experience considering he has savored NBA success already when he was still with the Miami Heat.
