Oculus Rift: Titles in development for VR headset

Since the gaming industry has turned it sights on virtual reality, one of the most exciting concepts nowadays is the VR headset. Blazing a trail into this type of gaming is Oculus with its Rift VR headset, reportedly making its way to consumer markets before the year ends. Confirmation about this time frame is most likely solid, as Oculus already presented its final consumer version at its press conference in preparation for this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Since it is now highly likely that the VR headset would make its way to players around the world in the third or last quarter of the year, and some game studios are already incorporating VR support in the development of their games, what titles would the gaming industry expect to see first on the Oculus Rift?

According to reports, big-name publishers and developers such as Square Enix, "Ratchet and Clank" and "Resistance" maker Insomniac Games, and Ready at Dawn (creators of "The Order: 1886") already confirmed that they have titles currently in development for the Oculus Rift. In addition, it is also speculated that Harmonix, the studio behind the upcoming "Rockband 4," is already on its development stage for a title for the VR headset.

The list of games already confirmed for the Oculus Rift include the RPG fantasy "Chronos" from "Darksiders II Remastered" developer Gunfire Games, the futuristic space flight sim "Eve Valkyrie," and "Edge of Nowhere" from Insomniac Games.

Oculus has also announced that it will be partnering with Microsoft to stream Xbox One games to the Rift VR headset.

It is still unclear at this point if publishers and developers behind successful game titles are working on porting games that were already released or if they are making new ones. Some observers say that since VR gaming is becoming a known area in the industry, most publishers and developers would most likely do both.
