Number of Americans who experimented with homosexual acts doubled in past 24 years, survey shows

It seems like the homosexual lifestyle, clearly prohibited among Christians, has permeated American society.

The number of Americans who experimented with homosexual activities have doubled over the past 24 years, the National Opinion Research Center's General Social Survey (GSS) revealed.

Based on this poll, only 4.25 percent of Americans engaged in gay activities back in 1973. By 2014, this number alarmingly skyrocketed to 8.5 percent of the 28,000 survey respondents who openly shared their sexual experiences.

Equally alarming is the increase in the number of U.S. residents who expressed support for engaging in homosexual activities. Over two decades ago, only 10 percent of Americans approved of gay lifestyle. In 2014, 50 percent of Americans said they do not mind homosexual culture at all.

These findings were recently published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.

Lead author Jean Twenge, who teaches psychology at the San Diego State, explained that these findings clearly show how Americans are becoming more and more liberal about same-sex culture.

"This data showed strikingly how quickly opinions on same-sex sexuality changed... toward more freedom and the abandonment of previously strict social rules against same-sex sexuality," Twenge said in an article published on LifeSiteNews.

Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow for the Family Research Council, explained that aside from moral implications, this research showing tolerance to homosexuality can also have implications to public health.

"The reduction of moral and social boundaries regarding homosexuality has led to a greater experimentation with homosexual conduct. Unfortunately, this means that more people are exposing themselves to the heightened health risks associated with such conduct, such as the greatly elevated rate of HIV infection among men who have sex with men," Sprigg told LifeSiteNews.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth meanwhile said educational institutions now have the responsibility to teach the youth about the dangers of homosexuality.

"Our public schools are loathe to teach the actual health risks associated with homosexual sex, and now they are embarking on another radical experiment by mainstreaming extreme gender confusion," LaBarbera said.
