Nintendo free mobile games release date, details: 'Super Mario' and 'Donkey Kong' coming to smartphones?

Nintendo is a brand easily associated with iconic games like "Super Mario" and "Donkey Kong," among others, and until now, the games are only playable via Nintendo game consoles such as Wii.

All that could, however, change soon with word that Nintendo and DeNa are in close collaboration to include "Super Mario," "Donkey Kong," and the rest of the gang as free mobile games possibly starting March 2016.

As far as game titles are concerned, the only confirmed app that will be debuting in about four months is Miitomo. The problem is that with the mobile consumer market expecting games, such is not considered a gaming app.

Miitomo is more of an avatar-creating application that is better categorized as a social app rather than one made for gaming.

While that is up in the air, the good news is there are five game titles planned for March so the other four apps set to debut remain a mystery for now. Hopefully though, it could be one of the iconic mobile games made popular back in the 80s.

Nintendo has, apparently, discovered that the free mobile gaming segment is a profitable venture and with DeNa's expertise, the company could discover a new niche when it comes to a revenue-generating business.

It is most likely that Nintendo will offer the game with in-game app purchases, though ads are bound to appear when playing, similar to what most free games have.

All that aside, folks familiar with the Nintendo fame should be pretty pumped with the impending arrival of these free games, seeing how their roster of games were well-embraced during the Family Computer era.

Considering that there are a lot of free gaming apps to choose from, the advantage Nintendo has is its household name.

And surely, any (or all) of the Nintendo games that may be released are bound to top the best games list and hopefully carrying improved graphics, considering the old ones are far off from the graphical representation most games carry these days.
