NFL Trade Rumors: Eagles and Vikings tie up deal in exchange for '17 and '18 draft picks

After losing their quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a torn ACL and a non contact injury suffered during practice, the Minnesota Vikings are making a bold move in giving up the 2017 1st round draft pick and the 2018 fourth round draft pick in order to acquire Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The announcement came from Philadelphia Eagles through a twitter post which was met with mixed reactions from the fans. There were those who supported the move as the first pick would become a big deal in the Eagles' Super Bowl chances. Some expressed apprehension about who will be the starting quarterback with Bradford gone.

Incidentally, Bradford too was a first round draft pick way back in 2010. While he proved to be a reliable QB, however, he did not truly shine as expected during the time of the drafts, reported SB Nation.

In the 2015 season, Bradford posted 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, and completed 65 percent of his passes.

While some are questioning the steep price that Minnesota had to pay in order to acquire Bradford, the team's GM Rick Spielman shared that it was a pretty tough decision for both the Vikings and the Eagles before they finally agreed on the terms of the trade – for the Vikings because a lot is riding on the draft picks and for the Eagles for giving up a reliable starting quarterback.

However, Spielman expressed confidence in the decision that he had to make in order to ensure the team's future.

"We are a better team today than we were yesterday. Mentally, I am completely drained. Not only dealing with this, but making decisions on the 53-man roster, watching tape on potential claims till 2 this morning, getting our practice squad lined up ... I just know how he (Bradford) played the second half of last season, and I know he's completely healthy, and I know this is the best running game by far that he'll ever play with," he said to MMQB.
