Expectations were high that the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update would be able to address various issues tied up with the Nexus 5. But along with that comes fear of new problems once the update is applied.

The Nexus 5 was one of the last phones released under the Nexus Line and one of the cheapest Android phones one could get their hands on in the market. The Nexus 5 did debut fairly in 2013, starting off with the Android 4.4 KitKat. But a lot has changed since then, especially once the updates came rolling in. Rather than provide a fix, the Nexus 5 returned a whole lot more of problems with each update that came out.

Among the issues that Nexus 5 had experienced include that of battery life, charging issues, connectivity (WiFi and Bluetooth) problems, cellular data issues and performance problems. And now with the Android 5.1 update, hopes are high that existing errors can be addressed.

While there are a lot of fixes that should come with the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, there may be new problems on the horizon as well. And this stems from the fact that previous Android update experiences where new bugs suddenly come out.

Thankfully, there are some people who have managed to find viable solutions to work around the various bugs and issues. Gottamobile has a list of work-arounds that may come in handy for Nexus 5 owners here.

And with that in mind, one may be thinking on whether it would be wise to update to the latest Android 5.1 version. Despite all the issues, the verdict here is a positive YES.

With the current version that Nexus 5 users have, it is evident that existing bugs stand to be addressed with the latest Android OS. Though there is no promise that new problems may arise by updating to it, it would be best to get rid of old issues first and worry about impending problems over the horizon.
