New York Knicks rumors 2015: Jimmer Fredette could be called up soon

The New York Knicks are in need of additional help in the backcourt and it was previously reported that Brandon Jennings could be a possible candidate.

But as it turned out, the Knicks may have not been impressed with Jennings' showing for now, meaning the Knicks are still on the prowl of a good guard to beef up its backcourt which is sorely lacking in depth.

Aside from Jennings, Tony Wroten was being considered as well. But per NBC sports, the degree of interest in the former Philadelphia 76ers guard is unclear, which could mean that the Knicks may have to look for help elsewhere.

And from the looks of it, the Knicks could end up getting reinforcement from the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) and likely someone they have been considering for quite some time.

That player is, of course, Jimmer Fredette, someone who is currently playing for the Westchester Knicks. He has always been believed to be someone who could be elevated to the regular roster of the Knicks early in the season, although nothing has happened just yet.

He got a chance to prove himself with the New Orleans Pelicans back in November, a move that was meant more to add players than really use him for what he can do. He barely made an impact and was eventually sent back to the NBA D-League.

Fredette has been doing great in the Knicks' D-League team, averaging 23.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. Add the fact that Jackson has long had his eyes on the BYU Cougar, although such is no guarantee that he is a shoe-in for a possible slot with the Knicks.

Unless the Knicks find someone better to add, Fredette could be suiting up real soon. Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant, and Langston Galloway have hardly made a difference so it could all boil down to if they are able to add the much needed impact player.
