New York Knicks free agency rumors: David West coming on board?

There have been a lot of NBA players opting out of their current contracts with their respective teams, so much that one player has been somehow forgotten. The player is Indiana Pacers banger David West.

As the NBA world focuses on LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love and Marc Gasol, the blue chip worker from Indiana has also opted out of his contract at Indiana. Will he return?

Apparently that is one thing that is on the table. And if rumors are true, chances are he will not.

West is being closely tied up to the New York Knicks, a rival team which he and Roy Hibbert practically outmuscled two-years ago. And now there is that strong possibility that he will be changing sides and possibly doing the same against his former team looking ahead of the coming 2015-16 NBA Season.

West, 34 is a known hardworker off the boards and a banger as many may probably know by now. His toughness could be a key addition to the boys of Derek Fisher who are trying to fill up key spots on their roster.

West not only brings that tough aura but experience to boot.

Aside from a potential beef up on the frontline, West could share a thing or two with incoming rookie Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis was surprisingly the 4th overall pick made by the New York Knicks. With all that over and done with, the thing is that Porzingis will need a lot of guidance to survive the NBA game. West can certainly do that as he has proven through his NBA career.

Last season, West averaged 11.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per outing which are certainly not bad for someone reaching the prime of his career.

So is West imminently headed to New York? We will find out in the coming days once NBA Free Agency officially opens this July 1.
