New Orleans Pelicans trade rumors 2016: Kenneth Faried-Anthony Davis reunion in the works? Thunders also interested in Nuggets power forward

With talks that the Denver Nuggets are looking to trade off power forward Kenneth Faried, the New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly expressed an interest in the player.

Faried stands to earn $12 million in his contract for the upcoming season and if New Orleans is willing to spend that to bring back the formidable team of Anthony Davis and Faried to the frontcourt anew, then there may be a drastic improvement in the team's performance in the next season, reported SB Nation.

It can be recalled that the Davis and Faried combo have proven their mettle as part of Team USA during the FIBA way back in 2014. However, based on the current roster of the Pelicans, if Faried is to be taken on as part of the team, he would most likely be playing center rather than retain his current post as power forward.

An analysis by sports writer David Fisher hints that while Faried's average scoring is good offensively, he needs to do a lot of work on his defensive game, which is already one of the major problems of the Pelicans as they stand.

"Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried is also said to be available, with the Thunder and Pelicans among the teams to express an interest, sources said to Amico Hoops.

ESPN's Zach Lowe corroborated the reports with a statement during his podcast. "I'm hearing that Denver is trying to get off Kenneth Faried, which I think they are, but if they have to move a decent wing to get off Faried and get something good in return, they've got a lot of wings now, the young ones, mid-career ones, take your pick," said ESPN's Zach Lowe in his podcast.

Aside from the Pelicans, the Cavs are reportedly also interested in getting Faried on their roster. However, the Cavs are reportedly asking for shooting guard Gary Harris as part of the package for Kevin Love if they agree to the trade.
