Lenovo is said to be developing a new cooling technology that will arrive with its ThinkPad laptop series. The upcoming notebooks will then be safe to use even for heavy gaming since the internal temperature will be kept at bay by the new technology.
The announcement came via CNBeta, in which the company's marketing director, Liu Xi, says there is a big demand for a high-end gaming machines and Lenovo is determined to meet the demand with their ThinkPad notebooks, which are known for unsurpassed quality.
The company is also developing the next-generation work and play machine, which will easily go from high-performance mode to a quite mode by simply tapping the Fn + Q key combo. This will lessen the burden of users who need to purchase two separate machines for light and heavy loads.
WCCFTech mentioned that the soon-to-be-released ThinkPad laptops will have a black chassis, a unique gas cooling system and a 62-blade cooling fan. This combination will allow the machines to have a stable and low temperature to protect the internals from overheating. The new blade design will suck in more air, increasing the air flow to the specially designed cooling chambers inside the chassis. The report added that the fan will only be 0.3mm thick.
There are no other details mentioned by Xi, but the community is expecting the new cooling system within the next few months.
Meanwhile, Lenovo announced at Viva Technology Paris a few weeks ago that they will give a million dollar funding award to individuals or companies that can create a unique and powerful cloud-connected app or the best app for the Internet of Things (IoT). The winners will be transported to Beijing and will personally present the idea or product to the Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group for possible funding, the announcement said.
Lenovo said, "In this IoT era, anything around us can have computing, storage and networking modules built inside, and become intelligent. Opportunities are abundant, and no one company can do it all. Big companies – like Lenovo – need the swiftness and fresh ideas of startups. Lenovo is moving beyond just devices to Device + Cloud, because the next era is all about CONNECTED computing."
The company also introduced its Phab 2 Pro with Tango, which is a collaboration with Google to produce smartphones capable of presenting augmented reality (AR) games and apps. This will enable users to visualize a new table or sofa in their home, measure objects through their smartphone or interact with their virtual pet.
