New Black and Multicultural Churches Directory launched

Churches Together in England has launched a Black and Multicultural Churches Directory.

The BMC Directory is available online and aims to become the largest and most accurate listing of black and multicultural churches and related organisations in the UK.

In addition to churches, the directory includes the details of theological institutions, ecumenical agencies, businesses and community-focused organisations.

There is also an online store providing books, DVDs, clothes and other articles produced by members of the BMC Community

Around 1,400 organisations are listed but those not included so far are being invited to add their details. Only businesses are subject to an annual fee that will go towards the running of the directory.

Secretary for Minority Ethnic Christian Affairs at Churches Together in England, Bishop Dr Joe Aldred said, "I am really excited that after further investment in the quality of the information available on this important site and a slight change of name, we have been able to make a new version of this valuable resource available to the general public.

"Black and multicultural churches are among the fastest growing of the Church in Britain; and having a fully functional interactive online facility with quality information is a real blessing."
