NBA trade rumors 2016: New York Knicks weigh options before deadline

The New York Knicks have become the center of attention these days after that sudden firing of now former head coach Derek Fisher.

Fisher got booted out unceremoniously, although the losing ways of the ball club and lack of direction were seen as the probable cause.

Kurt Rambis has replaced Fisher at the helm on an interim basis and made it clear to everyone that they will go for playoff spot. The Knicks are in a good position to do just that, although there may be some tweaks needed to improve their chances.

Phil Jackson may have something in mind and something could surprise National Basketball Association (NBA) fans yet again if there is a player who he feels can help out their cause.

Jackson is looking to add changes without disrupting the team's chemistry, although it may entail giving up some players excluding Carmelo Anthony and rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis.

Anthony's case is special because he has a no-trade clause in his contract. This means that the only way he can be dealt is if asks for a trade. Anthony made it clear that he has no intention to ask for one.

A department that Jackson needs to work on is his backcourt. Jose Calderon is there but the guard rotation is something that can be improved with the right player/s.

The names of Jeff Teague (Atlanta Hawks) and Brandon Jennings (Detroit Pistons) have long been rumored to be on the Knicks' wish list but thus far, nothing has come close for it to materialize.

Jackson did mention via ESPN that they are open to anything and would love to discuss possible deals with other ball clubs.

But the reality of it all is that the Knicks don't exactly have the proper sources to gain the interest of other teams.

Hence, it may have to be Jackson and company who will have to instigate a trade regardless how thin their resources may be.
